What the Sticker Really Was

Do you know the time when the liquid paper a.k.a correction liquid was first banned in schools? Well, I was in primary 4/5 when that happened. Anyway, as the creative students that we are, we found many ways to replace this essential (because we were just starting to write in pen then and doubtlessly made tons of errors).

First there was the innovation of correction tape, commercialised rapidly by the manufacturers. And the students who got it... wow, believe me, they were the happening ones (well, at least from a primary school student studying in the 1st class POV). The hype about this form of replacement was unbelievable.

And then came the idea of a more economical and convenient solution. I have no idea who started this, and if it was used anywhere apart from my school, but suddenly someone started bringing STICKERS. You know, the green boxes you would find in an office, those which had "Multi-Purpose Self Adhesives" written on the outside. Now, when we made a mistake, we would slap! put a piece of this self adhesive sticker onto the exercise book we were writing on and write over it. Much neater and not as troublesome as the tape, which sometimes broke when we wrote on it (that time still 1st generation product ma, not like now).

More importantly, the sticker served another purpose. Being the creative students we are, we find more than one use for anything, no? See, once a friend of mine brought a small er... what is it called... tub? container? of medicated balm 'cos her nose was a little sniffy.

And then, I caught sight of this balm rolling towards me. Curiously, I took a look and there, on the side, was a sticker with a message for me. Ahah! the new way of passing messages in class was born! I read the sticker, and wrote my reply on a new sticker, stuck it back on, and rolled it back to my friend. Boy... did we have fun rolling it back and forth... Haha =P

Ah... the reminiscence one can have from a tub of balm...
